The City Clerk’s Office is committed to openness in government and to serving the members of our community in a neutral and ethical manner. The Department does this by providing equal access to open and transparent government, ensuring the integrity of the participatory process, bridging internal and external communication pathways, and enhancing the public’s trust in local government.

Among other responsibilities, the City Clerk focuses on supporting the City Council, maintaining all government records of the City, and ensuring all facets of agenda preparation, public meetings, and municipal elections are conducted according to State law. The City Clerk also serves as a helpful liaison between the public and the City Council.

Some of the City Clerk’s specific duties include accurately recording the actions and proceedings of City Council meetings, administering the City’s Records Management Program, maintaining Half Moon Bay’s Municipal Code, administering regulations relating to the Fair Political Practices Commission, and providing information services to the public and City personnel through public records requests.
