Ballroom Dance Summer Sampler

Instructor: Gail Stevens
Welcome to a fun summer sampler of introductory dancing! During the summer session we like to offer introductions to a variety of dances at a beginning level, which helps broaden our repertoire as well as our dance experience and offers some fun moments in doing so. Two classes will be offered per week. Each class will offer an overview of the character and style of a different dance and two to four beginning patterns. There will be about 15 minutes practice time between the two classes. Dances that receive an especially enthusiastic response will be considered as offerings during the more extended Fall-Spring sessions. Come on your own, with your special someone or with friends. No partner necessary. I hope you will be able to join us. Looking forward to seeing YOU on the dance floor!

Beginning Hula (ages 18+)

Instructor: Dominique Del Chiaro
Hula is an integrated dance of poetry, rhythm, and movement using the dancer’s body for storytelling. This graceful, sensuous hula is a dance that helps trim the waistline, strengthen the back, and improve strength, flexibility, and balance. It is a low-impact form of dance and although disciplined it is easy to have enjoyment and success with only a few lessons. In this class you’ll learn basic steps, chants, and full hula dances. Each class builds on prior classes and all classes include some repetition and review. No prior experience is required for Beginning Hula. Bring water, a pa’u skirt or sarong and your Aloha spirit! For more information, please contact the instructor at coastsidehula@gmail.com prior to enrolling.
