June 26, 2018:

The building is 90% completed and the site work is 75% completed. The new building is scheduled to be completed by the middle of July and open to the public in August 2018. During the next few weeks the City’s contractor, BHM Construction will be busy completing the interior of the building, start-up and testing various components of the building, completing the decorative pavers, installing exterior decorative street lights, finishing the off-site work and completing the landscaping. The San Mateo County Library who operate and run the new Library will be moving in new furniture and furnishings and in the end of July start moving in books and other media for outfitting the new library’s collection. The grand opening of the new Half Moon Bay Library is scheduled for August 18 – more information will be available soon!

Construction of the new library began on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. The new library is anticipated to be completed in summer of 2018. During construction, library services are provided at a temporary location at Shoreline Station - 225 S. Cabrillo Highway, Suite 104B, Half Moon Bay, which is open seven days a week:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 10 am - 8 pm
  • Thursday: 1 - 8 pm
  • Friday: 10 am - 6 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm
  • Sun: 1 - 5 pm
