Join Half Moon Bay for an Early Earth Day Celebration on April 19!
Free Compost, Free eWaste Drop Off, Free Document Shredding


Half Moon Bay, CA - Earth Day is April 22, but the community is invited to celebrate early with Half Moon Bay and Republic Services. Its the 6th Annual Half Moon Bay Earth Day celebration, with free compost, free ewaste drop off, and free document shredding, brought to you by Republic Services.


Friday, April 19, 2019
10 am - 3 pm
Half Moon Bay Library
620 Correas Street

Event takes place rain or shine!

There will also be information booths from Peninsula Clean Energy, Sea Hugger, Commute.org, San Mateo County Office of Sustainability, and other local groups.This event is free and fun for the entire family.

The compost giveaway, ewaste drop off, and shredding services will take place in the Cunha Middle School parking lot adjacent to the library. Enter from either Correas Street or Church Street and follow drive through directions.

Compost Giveaway

  • Bring your own shovels, gloves and containers
  • Limit: 1 cubic yard of compost per resident
  • First come, first-serve!
  • Not for professional gardeners, landscapers, or other commercial use

eWaste Drop Off

Electronic items accepted include:

  • Small appliances: microwaves, hairdryers, vacuum cleaners, lamps (without bulbs), etc.
  • Radio and stereo components, phones/cell phones
  • Computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, hard drives, fax machines, copiers, printers, scanners
  • Televisions, VCRs, DVD players

Document Shredding

  • Bring paper documents and confidential materials for safe and secure shredding done onsite
  • Limit: THREE standard size bankers boxes (10"x12"x15") per household
  • Available until truck is full or event ends, whichever comes first
