Robert Brownstone

District 1

Term: 2018-2022

Robert Brownstone was elected to the City Council in November, 2018, and brings an extensive public and private sector background in organizational effectiveness, executive coaching and team development, as well as experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives. Council member Brownstone has worked domestically and abroad for a range of organizations including Cisco, e-Bay, and Oracle. Council member Brownstone was selected by his City Council colleagues to serve as Vice Mayor in December, 2019.

Prior to joining the private sector, Robert was the Director, Office of Civil Rights for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in San Francisco and a Regional Quality Liaison for the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. He earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in Massachusetts and has practiced state and federal employment discrimination law, and is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
